My name is Gregory Harrel but go by Greg. I am 39 years old and live in Southwest Florida with my wife and three children. I currently am a Lieutenant with Bonita Springs Fire Rescue were I have worked for 10 years.

Growing up in Toledo, Ohio where I attended grammar school, high school and college, I immediately learned that I loved to travel. After graduating high school and attending one semester of college, I opted to move out to Lake Tahoe and be a "ski bum" for a couple of years. On a return trip home to visit family, I met my wife to be Erin. After seeing her motivation to finish college, I moved back to Toledo to finish my Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies. Shortly after we moved to Ft. Lauderdale so I could attend the Broward Fire Academy. After graduating the academy we had our first born and began our life as a family here in Florida. Today we now have three children, several academic degrees including Erin's PhD and a multitude of new friends and acquaintances.

Taking a break from work

What a job!

Although sometimes exhausting and emotional, and yes a little dirty, there is no other profession that I would consider at this point in my career. This photo was taken shortly after a major vehicle accident in which the occupants needed to be extricated in order to free them from the wreckage.
