My philosophy on my personal life varies greatly from my philosophy in my professional life. Very rarely do I take my work
home. When I am there, it is my time. My time to give to my children and wife. I am extremely laid back with a few minor quirks.
I feel if something does not need immediate attention it can wait. I am not real big on projects and only do them if I have
to. I would rather have fun and relax while at home then stress out about the "small things". I believe that education
is the key to being successful and encourage my children to excel.
In my professional life, things are much different. The small things do stress me out and I need to address them immediately.
I take on every project that I can in order to occupy my time. If something needs attention, it can't wait, it must be done
now. I have developed a style of leadership that is both firm but fair. I would never expect anyone to do something I wouldn't
do. I pride myself in not implementing one particular style of leadership. Rather, I embrace the Authoritarian, Participative
and Delegative styles, depending on the situation and the needs of the employee. I feel that in order to be considered a true
professional you need to have a formal education along with the respective training in your field. Time and grade alone are
no longer a deciding factor for promotional purposes. If you want to move forward in this new era of Public Safety you must
educate yourself.
